Steady Viewpoint ADS aim: weapon rests, bipods and hold breath
With the separate Recoil & ADS 1.9.0 add-on, the author describes resting a gun on a table, wall or sill, or using a prone position to settle sway and deploy bipods. Hold Shift while the sights are raised to steady the aim. This is not an unlimited-breath, zero-recoil or universal-weapon guarantee.

Confirm the add-on, not only the core gunplay
The core Viewpoint 0.1.6 gunplay and the Recoil & ADS companion are separate. The companion’s checked author page identifies version 1.9.0 as adding weapon rests and working bipods. Its Workshop ID is 3812612054; Mod ID is ProjectViewpointADS.
Load it after Viewpoint with ZombieBuddy configured, and review the intended Java-file approval after an update. First confirm a familiar vanilla gun raises its sights using the ADS mode and control guide. A camera that enters first person does not alone prove this add-on loaded.
Compare supported aim in a safe test
- Use a test world and record gun, optic, add-on version and current ADS options.
- Raise the sights in a safe open position and observe sway against a fixed target.
- Compare the same aim while resting the gun against a suitable table, wall or sill. The author also describes prone support; use a stance your installed movement setup actually provides.
- Observe whether sway settles and any applicable bipod deploys. Do not assume every firearm has the same attachment or support behavior.
- While sights are raised, hold Shift and compare the steadiness. Release it to compare the original state.
The author describes a small zoom for iron sights and red dots during breath holding. That visual change is not the same as scope magnification or ballistic zeroing. No new universal bipod key is documented here; check the installed keybinds rather than inventing one.
A gun pushed back by a wall is a different result
Physical weapon collision can pull a pistol toward the chest or move a long gun into a higher ready position near a wall, door, shelf or vehicle. The author describes length-dependent behavior. If the sights disappear as you crowd an obstacle, step back and check whether they return before treating it as failed ADS or a missing model.
Resting support and collision are not interchangeable checkpoints. Compare your position and weapon clearance deliberately. Low barriers affect a lowered weapon differently from an elevated one, so do not infer that a visible fence always prevents shooting over it.
Physical collision strength, start distance and smoothing are among the options under Delete → Recoil & ADS. Record the original values and change one relevant control if needed; we have no measured ideal values for your gun or room.
When sway or support still looks wrong
The companion relates sway to Aiming skill, endurance, fatigue and panic. Weapon resting does not prove those factors vanished. Keep the same character condition when comparing settings. The author also distinguishes ADS recoil from core Viewpoint recoil, so do not stack tuning advice from an older release blindly.
For a third-party weapon, report its exact item/mod, optic, stance, surface, versions and repeatable steps. Automatic weapon profiles are not a promise that every model or attachment aligns correctly. For a slowdown only inside a magnified lens, compare PiP quality in the ADS guide instead of changing all graphics settings.
