Project Zomboid server mods: WorkshopItems vs Mod IDs

Current QOL author example · PZwiki server fields marked Build 42.13

The short answer

WorkshopItems= takes numeric Steam Workshop item IDs; Mods= takes module IDs such as Viewpoint. They are not interchangeable. One Workshop download may contain multiple modules. Start from the original author’s server instructions and preserve the server’s existing entries.

Identify the two lists

PZwiki’s dedicated-server article, marked Build 42.13, documents these fields in the named server’s INI file. We use that field distinction and the current QOL author’s example, not the wiki’s older beta-install instructions.

A display title, collection ID or copied browser search URL is not a Mod ID. Check the original Workshop page’s ID block and required items. The following is a reference for this site’s camera stack, not a recommendation to enable every companion.

True Weathers is an example of one item with a visual module and an optional Gameplay module. Select modules according to its author’s instructions; do not infer that listing the download enables every module or that all of its Java belongs on the server.

Apply the author’s QOL example carefully

The QOL author supplies this minimal list:

Mods=ZombieBuddy;Viewpoint;ProjectViewpointQOL
WorkshopItems=3619862853;3809306528;3811256204
  1. Arrange a maintenance window and stop the server before editing its configuration.
  2. Back up the intended named INI and confirm it is the profile the server actually starts.
  3. Merge required entries with its existing lists. Preserve unrelated mods and use semicolons; do not paste a second competing Mods or WorkshopItems line.
  4. Start the server, inspect its log and compare the resulting configured list with your note.
  5. Have a player with the intended setup join and check the feature before opening the changed world to everyone.

The author describes QOL behavior as client-side while still instructing administrators to list these three items. Listing them does not perform each player’s ZombieBuddy one-time setup or Java approval. Use the client/runtime checklist for that layer.

If the expected module is still absent

Confirm the active server profile, exact IDs, dependencies and download result before adding extra entries. Compare the named error with the file mismatch guide. Keep the last working configuration so you can reverse this specific edit.

This page does not claim an end-to-end hosted-panel or dedicated-server install test. Hosting-provider panels can manage their own configuration; use their supported editor rather than assuming a local file overrides the panel.
