Enter a vehicle and find seats, fuel and storage in Viewpoint Interface

Build 42.21 · Viewpoint alpha-0.1.6 · Sources checked October 11, 2026

The short answer

With a compatible, loaded Viewpoint Interface, aim at the vehicle and use its selected Enter Vehicle action with E. The author places that action first. Open the vehicle tab while in or next to a vehicle for seats, fuel, battery, tires, storage and the mechanics window.

Confirm which interface you are using

This is the optional Interface companion ViewpointUI, Workshop 3812616893, on Build 42.21. Its author requires loading after Viewpoint and the intended Java approval. The core’s new vehicle camera does not by itself add this vehicle tab. Check an add-on update compatible with the installed core before using the instructions.

Use a parked vehicle to test the interaction

  1. Stand within interaction reach of a parked vehicle in a safe area.
  2. Aim at it and read the selected action beside the crosshair. In Interface’s default interaction mode, Enter Vehicle is first; use E only after confirming the action.
  3. If you chose Hold or Vanilla interaction in the options, follow that mode’s displayed control rather than assuming the default.
  4. Once in or beside the vehicle, use the vehicle tab to inspect the seats and status. Use the offered storage or mechanics action for the task you need.

Camera position and vehicle condition are different settings

Alpha-0.1.6 remembers preferred walking and driving views separately and adds a chase camera. A camera change after entering a car is not proof that the Interface panel failed.

Check Delete for the core camera settings; use first/third-person controls. This page does not provide a hotwiring, towing or engine-repair recipe, and the vehicle tab cannot waive the game’s prerequisites for those actions.

The tab or HUD is missing

Check the game’s configured Toggle UI key: Interface uses it to hide and restore the screens. If only this companion is missing, inspect its enabled module, load order, Java status and update compatibility. An old report that panels vanish after driving does not prove a single universal fix.

For a conflicting inventory window, the author offers “Use the game’s inventory windows” and “Allow legacy UI.” Change the relevant option on a test session before removing every UI mod. If the issue remains, capture the action that hides the panel and console.txt.
