Find Viewpoint shader packs and avoid outdated Dreamy settings

Build 42.21 · ZombieBuddy v2.3.4 · Sources checked October 7, 2026

The short answer

Open Delete for the installed preset and shader choices. The author gives Zomboid/viewpoint-shaderpacks for custom packs. Start with an included preset; old Dreamy recipes and experimental Iris support do not guarantee a current third-party pack works unchanged.

Check your installed menu first

Record Viewpoint version and the preset currently selected. Choose a built-in baseline and confirm the scene renders before adding a custom pack. Camera switching and shader selection solve different tasks: camera controls explains the base keys.

A popular September 29 cozy-look recipe now marks itself outdated after shader-system changes. Do not assume the old Mode: Modern or Dreamy labels and exact brightness values map to your current menu.

Keep the custom folder and game install separate

The documented directory is under the user's Zomboid folder, not simply whichever Steam game folder has the same name. Keep the original pack and license information, and follow its current format instructions. The Viewpoint author calls Iris-compatible support experimental; an arbitrary Minecraft ZIP is not a verified drop-in installation here.

  1. Keep a note of the working preset and existing custom files.
  2. Obtain a pack from its original author with current Viewpoint-compatible instructions.
  3. Use the documented directory and check the available pack list in Delete.
  4. Test a separate world. If selection fails, return to the built-in baseline and report the exact versions and log.

Do not fix a missing preset by copying every effect

A missing old preset is not evidence your Java loader is broken if the camera and current included packs work. Tune visibility and readability before recreating cinematic footage. For softness or slowdown use the diagnostic flow; a screenshot from someone else's scene does not specify your weather, hardware or mod stack.

No third-party shader pack has been installed or benchmarked by this site. Pack-by-pack compatibility remains a specific test, not a blanket promise.
